Awning Cleaning Service
Awning Cleaning
Awning Cleaning Others had tried and failed. We clean and then we treat the canvas with a biocide. This gets right between the material fibres and kills the unseen micro organisms, providing a much more thorough clean and a long lasting effect.
Canvas is one of the most awkward materials we get asked to clean. We work with a canopy manufacturer testing out different products and methods. The most common contaminate we see is algae and fungi. These can be ‘cleaned’ and it may appear that the job is done. In fact we have discovered unless the biological growth is killed it will soon re appear. That is why we use Algoclear Pro professional biocides which are biologically safe and do not have any effect on the colour of the canvas ( unlike a caustic or chlorine based product )

The Best Awning Cleaning Service
Canvas awnings are notoriously difficult to clean – especially when they are installed up at height. Many cleaning companies have tried and failed with a half-hearted attempt at ‘washing ‘ them. To simply run water across them won’t do much at all. This is because in between the tight weave of the material, there is a tiny area where moisture and dirt can sit. In certain conditions mould, mildew algae, and fungus will begin to develop and colonise.
The problem is due to the flexibility of the awning you can’t just pressure wash it clean.
Another factor is water runoff. Awnings are generally set at an angle of around 45 degrees- which means the water sits on the surface longer and stays damp, encouraging growth. We have tried and tested different methods and different cleaning products and found the most effective way to get results, while still respecting the sensitive nature of canopies and awnings.
- We wash both sides of the awnings
- We identify the contamination and select the correct cleaning product and technique
- We clean the frames, struts, and supports (by hand if necessary )
- We apply post-treatment to provide a long-lasting effect
