Spring is nearly here and your cafe / restaurant/ salon/ hotel is ready for its spring clean.Do canvas awnings and canopies need spring cleaning ?
Have you noticed your canvas awning is looking tired and dull. You know how much it cost and do not want to spend that again already. Would it clean up nicely ? Perhaps someone has tried squirting it with a hose ?
Maybe you even had a professional attempt to clean it. But it doesn’t look much better.
This is because it is probably not actually ‘dirty’. The truth is it is actually infested by microorganisms . A biofilm of algae ,mould and mildew.
That’s why the rain does not clean it. The rain just adds to the damp conditions in which this organic matter thrives. It needs treating with a professional biocide . To kill the living organisms which will detach and then wash away from the canvas. Canvas acrylic awnings are commonly used to give cover from the rain and shade from the sun ( occasionally in UK !). The weave of the fabric is tight but it does have small indentations where minute areas of damp can gather. This is a perfect breeding ground for mould and algae.
With incorrect pressure washing technique this tight fabric weave can be loosened to the point where the awning is no longer water resistant. That’s why we use tried and tested methods along with specialist equipment to carefully clean your awning.
We also make sure we leave the material soaked with our specialist cleaning product. This gives a long lasting clean as it keeps working after we have gone.
Some contractors will use harsh chemicals for a quick fix. We are not prepared to risk the long term quality of your awning just for our short term fix. This is because we like repeat business and recommendations.
