This video clip shows a rendered house cleaned Ilkley , West Yorkshire. They had a problem with algae colonising on the walls. This is a common problem in the Ilkley area , due to the damp sheltered conditions. The homeowner had assumed they would need to erect scaffold and hire decorators to re paint the walls, but we knew and recommend otherwise. We applied the correct product which kills off the biofilm that has established itself all over , especially the very high gable ends. It actually did look worse when we had finished. This is not a concern – in fact this shows the algae is reacting and that’s good news . The dye ‘bleeds ‘ out of the algae before it completely falls off, often giving off a dramatic spectrum of colours. The customer was very impressed with the results as once the product had fully worked the building did look like it had been painted. It can take a short period of time to work but , good things come to he who waits!
And the second part of the clip features a stunning roof clean in Bramhope, Leeds. The customer had a problem with unsightly lichens inhabiting the concrete roof tiles. We treated the whole roof with a biocide to kill all organic life. This makes the cleaning process much easier and quicker. It also means less abrasive pressure washing is needed – which is better for the long term health of the Roof tiles.
Once all the dirt , moss and detritus has been washed off the roof , we make sure the gutters are cleared out and the drain pipes are running freely. Then we apply an algae inhibiting chemical to the whole of the roof – this greatly lengthens the timescale the roof will stay looking good.
