Today we completed another Roof Clean in Ilkley-Moss removal and treatment. We removed the moss manually with a Dutch hoe. The moss comes away easily when scraped but it always does surprise us how much we bring down. Once the moss is gone we can actually inspect the real condition of the roof as any problem areas have been hidden underneath the carpet of moss. If someone goes to all the effort of removing the clumps of moss it really is a chance missed if the chemical treatment is not done as well. We have specialist pumps and spraying equipment to liberally saturate the tiles. Although it’s a big improvement when we first complete the job, you will notice some remains of moss at first. This will detach and fall off as the weather cycle takes affect over the next few months.
If you need the Roof to look pristine the moment we leave we are happy to pressure wash the tiles. With correct technique this is safe on most roofs.However, the long term benefits of choosing the least abrasive method are obvious.
It is possible to achieve excellent cleaning results on a roof tile without a pressure washer. This does reduce wear on the tiles. The drawback is you may have to be patient.
Do research on the product. Plus use experienced applicators.
You can see in the picture the house on the right was done a year ago. The neighbors are impressed and have chosen to have there house done too.
We also provided a demonstration sample clean on the retaining garden wall. It was infested with an unsightly black fungi. The results speak for themselves.
