This Canvas canopy clean in Harrogate is our biggest canopy clean to date ! We worked hard at ‘ The Local Pantry ‘ Huby, North Yorkshire , to carefully bring back to life the huge canopy. It was Built by local company ’ Canvasman’ in West Yorkshire – this 250 m squared acrylic canvas weave spans the full length plus both ends of the cafe.
This was the first time it has been properly cleaned since installation ( although the cafe staff told us they had attempted to clean it for a short period- but gave up !) We let them get back to what they do best- delicious home cooked food from locally produced ingredients. Then we can get on what with what we do best which is carefully breaking down the grime , slime , mould and algae growing on there bespoke canopy.
We do our research – paying visits to the Canvasman production centre and learning how it’s made , how it’s installed , what are the potential problems while cleaning ?which products are recommended? etc.
This picture illustrates a close up of the results we can achieve. On the left you can see where the stitching has developed a yellow substance. This is algae. It’s easily killed off and removed. On the right you can see the bubbles from our surfactant we used to deep clean that section of the canvas. As you can imagine , this brightening process applied right across the whole structure really has a big effect on the building.
Its especially important to clean any lettering, as this should be a focal point for customers. It’s a business main advertising space, especially on a busy roadside like this one. But they can be a very delicate area that needs the most careful attention.
